Join Magee Hickey and her Singing Newscaster Colleagues
For the second year in a row Magee Hickey, along with her newscaster colleagues will be singing, dancing, and generally trying to trip the light fantastic for a good cause – The Lawrence F. Hickey Center for Child Development.
A little history. When Astor was looking for a building for its early childhood program in the Bronx, they asked Lawrence Hickey to find them a building. He found one on Dyre Avenue in the Bronx and when it opened in 1991, in gratitude, Astor named it after him. The Cabaret is a way to honor Mr. Hickey and his family, great supporters of Astor, with all funds raised to be used for the Lawrence F. Hickey Center.
A lot of fun. At our 1st annual Come to the Cabaret we filled the auditorium to capacity, standing room only. As each newscaster mounted the stage, we were regaled with their extraordinary virtuosity that had little resemblance to their on camera appearance. This year two dozen newscasters will once again perform their very own brand of entertainment. We thank them for becoming “Astor Angels” for a day!
A postscript. Last year our guests lingered way beyond “closing time” for the Cabaret. Mingling with and taking pictures of Magee and her newscaster friends, participating in our silent auction, eating and drinking and sharing the good will that resonated throughout the day for Astor Services for Children and Families.
A huge thank you! Our sponsors for Come to the Cabaret include William Grant & Sons, Event Sponsor; Patti Kenner and Kathleen Weslock, Piano Sponsors; CWA Local 1182, Hickey Center Sponsor; and Highbridge Development Corporation; Auction Sponsor.
Come to the Cabaret on Saturday, April 14th, One East 91st Street and 5th Avenue. The reception is at 1:00PM and the performance begins at 2:00PM.
