Astor Services for Children & Families was featured on a segment of the Fox 5 New York television program “Good Day New York Street Talk” which aired on December 5, 2009.
Dr. Sapna Parikh, medical reporter for Fox 5 New York, interviewed Astor’s Executive Director Dr. James McGuirk and Astor family Joann Best and her son Mathew.
In a special show featuring the theme “giving back for the holidays!”, Dr. Parikh showcased organizations which are making notable contributions to their communities.
The segment of the show featuring Astor focused on Joann Best, who turned to Astor when she needed help with her son. Astor was able to help her find special services and school placement, and provide help to Mathew through one of Astor’s school-based programs, which Ms. Best credits with helping to turn around a difficult situation with her son Mathew and his behavioral problems.
