Astor’s Early Childhood Programs offers a comprehensive child development program and is home to Poughkeepsie’s Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) program.
The program implements the Creative Curriculum and utilizes Teaching Strategies Gold Assessment tool three times a year. Teachers provide a play-based and child-centered classroom that engages the children while also providing instruction that supports the growth of the child’s social emotional, cognitive and language skills. Children will receive developmentally appropriate instruction in math, science and literacy.
- Astor’s practices align with New York State’s Early Learning Guidelines and follows all required NYS standards.
- Astor’s UPK families are invited to attend monthly parent meetings and will have the opportunity to review their child’s development with their teacher three times a year through family conferences and home visits.
Hours are 8:30-2:30 and breakfast and lunch will be provided to all children.
